Snow Shovelling Coordinator

Volunteer Job Overview

The Snow Shovelling program coordinator role is a volunteer position where they must match shovellers to customers in need of snow shovelling services for both long and short term contracts.  They are required to to keep track of names, locations, rates, etc. The program runs from November through the end of April.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Meet With Customers -  The coordinator will need to meet in person with new customers at their homes to provide a quote for shovelling based on the service needed.
    Time required for this task: 20 mins per visit

  • Introduce Customers to Snow Shovellers -  It is recommended that the coordinator arrange to be at an in-person introductory meeting between new customers and their shovellers.
    Time required for this task: 15 mins per visit

  • Adjust Prices to Market - The coordinator reviews existing and new pricing to ensure it is comparable to rates at similar properties. 

  • Monitor Funds and Payments - Communicate with our treasurer and bookkeeper to ensure accurate payments are received from customers and sent to shovellers.
    Time required for this task:  1 hrs/week

  • Manage the Customer Spreadsheet  - Make sure that information stored in the central spreadsheet is up to date.  Files are saved on the NHCA Google drive, so the coordinator must be comfortable using that platform.
    Time required for this task: 2 hrs/week

  • Submit Monthly Report - During snow shovelling months and if applicable, a report can be submitted to the NHCA secretary prior to the start of the board meeting on the second Thursday of each month.
    Time required for this task: 5 mins/month

  • Submit Monthly Report - If monthly meeting attendance is not possible a monthly summary of membership numbers and breakdowns should be submitted to the NHCA secretary prior to the start of the meeting.
    Time required for this task: 5 mins/month

OVERALL MONTHLY TIME COMMITMENT

Monthly commitment is Variable and dependent on time of year and number of customers. Most of the time is spent in September-November confirming customers and shovellers. The program runs until the end of April.  There is no significant time commitment for the remainder for the year.

TRAINING FOR THE ROLE

Training and orientation will be provided by the predecessor or other board members, as required, per the Volunteer Policy.
